Opportunity
Our client is seeking Ironworker Apprentices and Journeypersons to join the construction of a major heavy industrial project near Jansen, SK. This large-scale development includes the erection of structural steel and installation of critical equipment for the Wet Mill Building at the BHP Jansen Potash Mine.
This is a chance to work on one of Canada’s most significant industrial projects with long-term career potential.
Responsibilities
- Assemble and disassemble rigging systems
- Erect structural steel ranging from light to extra heavy
- Rig and hoist materials using cranes (75t RT up to 1,328t heavy lift) and hand rigging
- Bolt and torque steel structures
- Install steel grating, stairs, handrails, and pre-assembled modules (PAUs)
- Hoist and install process equipment (tanks, conveyors, skids, separators, etc.)
- Work safely at heights up to 150 ft in all weather conditions
Requirements
- Journeyperson or Red Seal Ironworker ticket (preferred) OR registered Apprentice (3rd year+)
- Industrial experience in structural ironwork (non-ticketed candidates may be considered)
- Safety certifications: CSTS-20, Fall Protection (in-class), Elevated Work Platform (in-class)
- Pre-access drug & alcohol testing required
- Ability to lift up to 25 kg and work in physically demanding environments
- Strong understanding of industrial safety practices
- CSA/ANSI Grade 1 steel-toed boots with ankle support (metatarsal protection may be required per site conditions)
Compensation & Benefits
- Apprentice Rates:
- 3rd Year Apprentice: $34.30/hour
- 4th Year Apprentice: $41.65/hour
- Journeyperson Rate:
- Journeyperson Ironworker (including Red Seal): $49.00/hour
- Overtime: Paid after 8 hours/day or 40 hours/week
- Camp: Provided at no cost
- LOA (Living Out Allowance): Up to $1,406.00 (based on approved proof of residence)
- Benefits: Vision & dental care, pension matching, RRSP contributions, Employee Assistance Program
Work Schedule & Logistics
- Rotation: 14 days on / 7 days off, 10–12 hour shifts (both day and night)
- Travel: Workers are responsible for getting to Saskatoon shuttle point (near airport). Camp transport is arranged from there.
- Orientation: Client orientation and badging (unpaid) must be completed prior to site access.
- PPE & Tools: Workers must provide required tools and approved PPE (steel-toed boots, fall protection harness, etc.).
