About the Opportunity
Our client, a leading organization within the nuclear sector, is seeking an experienced Nuclear Estimator to support large-scale, complex projects. In this key role, you will take ownership of preconstruction cost management, working collaboratively with the owner, design consultants, and project management teams to develop accurate cost plans, conduct value engineering, and establish budgets that meet performance and profitability goals.

What You’ll Do
Opportunity Response
- Collaborate with the Regional Management Team (RMT) to support new market initiatives and business opportunities.
- Establish and maintain strategic relationships with customers, suppliers, and key stakeholders, including government representatives and the public.
- Prepare estimating deliverables aligned with proposal and bid strategies.
Preconstruction
- Serve as a key contributor during project development phases to help secure new work.
- Develop and execute project strategies that align with performance, schedule, and profitability targets.
- Assist in bid processes, providing insight and strategies to strengthen competitive positioning.
- Deliver comprehensive preconstruction services, including preliminary budgets, cost plans, and value engineering.
- Lead internal project start-up and contract partnering sessions.
- Establish and monitor Preconstruction in Progress (PIP) KPIs, providing monthly updates to leadership.
- Participate actively in scheduling, procurement planning, labour/equipment forecasting, logistics, and risk register reviews.
- Develop milestone cost plans (schematic, design development, and working drawings).
- Support constructability assessments and value engineering reviews before tendering.
- Manage project budgets during design, oversee sub-trade tendering, conduct risk assessments, and participate in award recommendations.
- Prepare cost and productivity data uploads in SAP and maintain accurate financial tracking.
Construction
- Monitor labour, materials, and equipment costs to ensure alignment with forecasts.
- Conduct monthly Work in Progress (WIP) updates and provide insight into project cost performance.
- Contribute to strategies that support schedule adherence and profitability targets.
Post-Construction
- Lead lessons-learned sessions to drive continuous improvement.
- Support contract reconciliation and detailed project close-out reporting.
About You
- Undergraduate degree in Quantity Surveying or Engineering.
- Eligible for, or currently hold, a PQS, CET, or P.Eng designation.
- Minimum 6+ years of hands-on nuclear estimating experience across delivery methods (lump sum, construction management, design-build).
- Direct estimating experience on large-scale projects exceeding $100M.
- Strong communication skills to engage effectively with teams, subtrades, consultants, and owners.
- Advanced proficiency with estimating software tools and methodologies.
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and mathematical skills with a focus on precision and accuracy.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Collaborative and proactive approach with a strong sense of urgency and commitment to results.
