Duties and Responsibilities:
- Follow all Health and Safety policies and procedures.
- Maintain, repair, and troubleshoot production-related machinery and plant equipment.
- Respond to major emergencies during and after hours as needed.
- Support Engineering and Operations in new construction and upgrade activities.
- Initiate and carry out projects to improve efficiency and reduce operating costs.
- Coordinate with Maintenance Coordinator to efficiently complete projects and work orders.
- Inform personnel regarding procedures and/or status of work orders.
- Ensure operation of machinery and mechanical equipment through preventive maintenance.
- Troubleshoot problems by observing mechanical devices in operation and using precision measuring and testing instruments.
- Prepare mechanical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with policies and procedures.
- Provide scheduled and emergency inspection, testing, and lubrication on machinery and mechanical equipment.
- Request equipment and supplies to maintain inventory and ensure availability for installations and repairs.
- Transport tools, equipment, and supplies to job sites.
- Maintain technical knowledge through educational workshops, reviewing technical publications, and establishing personal networks.
- Oversee the professional development of apprentice Industrial Mechanics.
Qualifications:
- Valid BC Journeyman Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) Certificate or recognized interprovincial equivalent.
- Minimum 2 years experience in an industrial environment.
- Ability to recognize risks to support safety in the workplace.
- Organizational and time management abilities.
- Experience with CMMS software is a plus.
- Class 5 Driver's License.
Working Conditions:
- Monday to Friday with occasional variations for production requirements and emergencies.
- Must always wear proper PPE.
- Inside and outside work environment.
- Occasional exposure to bitumen, solvents, and vapours or fumes.
- Potential travel to other locations for temporary, short-term support.
Physical Requirements:
- Work on machines and occasionally at height.
- Work outside under varying climatic conditions.
- Frequent load handling.
Education: Journeyman Millwright Ticket.
Physical: Ability to lift 50 lbs.
Safety Equipment: Steel Toes (candidate responsibility), PPE otherwise provided, Mask.
Software: MS Office.
Pre-Employment Requirements: Background Check (Client will set up), Pass a Fit Test.
